Kartaplay, a marketplace platform, was launched on September 16 at the Retaj Hotel in Moroni, Comoros. The platform allows users to publish, sell, and search for products and services, aiming to bridge the gap between supply and demand. Developed locally, Kartaplay is a fintech company created by Comorians for Comorians, with 15 employees and three associates.
The platform's general director, Moudfir Said Allaoui, emphasized that Kartaplay is more than just a payment system, it's about creating a common space for economic actors to interact. He highlighted the importance of visibility for traders, artisans, and producers to be known and accessed by potential customers. Kartaplay's goal is to offer a digital marketplace for various economic stakeholders.
Kartaplay's features include a user-friendly interface, allowing users to access the homepage, browse announcements, and search for products by category. The platform also offers a seller profile, enabling traders to group their products and making it easier for clients to view their offers. Additionally, Kartaplay allows users to recharge their phone credits and plans to expand its services.
The launch ceremony was attended by government members, mayors, national agency representatives, public institutions, banking establishments, and partners, including the French Development Agency and Expertise France. Afraitane Ayal, an engineer at KartaPay, presented the platform's main features, demonstrating its ease of use and functionality.
According to Moudfir Said Allaoui, over 2,000 accounts have been created on Kartaplay in a few weeks, and the platform is free for everyone. The Comorian Minister of Economy, Moustoifa Hassani Mohamed, praised the initiative, highlighting the role of digitalization in modernizing the economy and promoting entrepreneurship.
The minister also emphasized the importance of security, transparency, and user protection, encouraging the promoters to pursue partnerships and adhere to regulations. Kartaplay's development is seen as a step towards digitalizing Comoros' economy and creating a favorable business environment.
As Kartaplay continues to grow, it aims to expand its services to include electricity, water, television, and housing. The platform's success will depend on its ability to address the needs of its users, provide a secure and transparent environment, and adapt to the evolving digital landscape in Comoros.
