The Comorian hospitality sector is taking steps to professionalize with a recent certification ceremony for 16 participants who completed training programs in hotel and restaurant management. The training, conducted by Hospitality Consulting and Interim (Hci), aimed to enhance skills in the sector. The ceremony, held at Le Select restaurant, celebrated the success of 12 servers and 4 receptionists who underwent training in January and February.
The training program consisted of ten days of theoretical training, a month-long internship, and two successful exams. According to Hci, the program demonstrated exceptional conditions, showcasing the potential and willingness of young and professional participants to improve their skills. The initiative aligns with the sector's ongoing efforts to upgrade its standards and quality of services offered to tourists.
Charafouddine Djamaleddine, Director of the Ministry of Tourism's cabinet, emphasized that the certification ceremony marks a significant milestone for the beneficiaries and paves the way for future initiatives. He acknowledged the importance of such programs in promoting professional growth and development in the sector. The certification ceremony highlighted the collaboration between Hci and the government in driving growth in the hospitality industry.
Nabihouddine Ahmed Abdou, CEO of Hci, stressed the vital role of the hospitality sector in promoting Comoros' image and hospitality. He expressed the company's commitment to continuing its efforts in professional training to support sector stakeholders and enhance national tourism quality standards. Abdou's sentiments reflect the sector's growing recognition of the need for skilled professionals to drive growth and development.
Hci plans to launch a large-scale professional training project on Ndzuani and Mwali islands. The project aims to address local needs and support hospitality and restaurant providers in improving their practices and sustainable development. Admer Izidine, Deputy Managing Director of Hci, explained that the project seeks to bridge the gap between training programs and local realities.
In addition to the upcoming project, Hci plans to return to Ngazidja in November 2027 to organize a new training session for the general public. This initiative is based on the conviction that tourism and hospitality careers should be accessible to all individuals seeking to acquire skills and contribute to the country's economic development. The move demonstrates Hci's commitment to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in the sector.
The growth of Comoros' hospitality sector relies heavily on initiatives like Hci's training programs, which focus on developing local talent and enhancing service quality. With the sector's continued professionalization, Comoros aims to strengthen its position as a tourist destination. Key stakeholders, including government officials and sector players, have expressed optimism about the prospects of growth and development in the industry.
