The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is continuing its support for Tunisia in two key areas related to international economic developments. According to Ramzi Louati, acting chargé d'affaires of Tunisia's permanent mission to the United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG), UNCTAD is helping Tunisia develop a national e-commerce strategy and build the capacity of Tunisian and African negotiators on climate financing.
UNCTAD is working with the Tunisian Ministry of Trade and Export Development to develop a national e-commerce strategy. Preliminary planning meetings were held from March 31 to April 2, 2026, to define the strategic priorities of the Tunisian government in this area. This support is part of UNCTAD's activities for African countries covered by an annual report for the period from May 2025 to April 2026.
The support provided by UNCTAD aligns with the objectives of the African Union's (AU) Agenda 2063. UNCTAD's activities focus on four main areas: inclusive and sustainable growth, regional integration, human-centered development, and integration into the global economy. Tunisia is also participating in climate and development workshops organized by UNCTAD in collaboration with the presidency of the G77 and China in Geneva.
