CLK International Consultancy Services Ltd, Africa representative of the China International Petroleum & Petrochemical Technology Equipment Exhibition (CIPPE), has strengthened efforts to facilitate trade, investment, and technology partnerships between over 100 Chinese oil and gas equipment manufacturers and Nigeria's energy sector. This development follows the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board's (NCDMB) recent engagement with more than 100 Chinese Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in Chengdu, China.
The engagement focused on opportunities for local manufacturing, technology transfer, investment, supply-chain integration, and long-term industrial partnerships in Nigeria. The NCDMB has increasingly prioritized manufacturing, technology ownership, supplier development, and in-country value addition as key components of Nigeria's local content agenda. This agenda aims to promote the growth of Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
Amb. Elizabeth Oziri, Chief Executive Officer of CLK, stated that the firm has facilitated engagements between Nigerian institutions, indigenous oil and gas companies, and Chinese manufacturers. These engagements have helped connect stakeholders and create opportunities for business-to-business and technical partnerships. This initiative aligns with the objectives of NCDMB's Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGAPS).
The Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGAPS) seeks to promote the in-country manufacturing of oil and gas equipment, components, and other industry requirements. Nigeria is seeking to create an environment where international manufacturers can establish a meaningful presence in the country through local assembly, manufacturing, technical partnerships, skills development, technology transfer, and integration into Nigerian supply chains.
The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) also participated in the engagement, providing a platform for indigenous oilfield service companies to interact directly with Chinese manufacturers. They explored opportunities in technology, equipment, manufacturing, and technical cooperation. CLK's role extends beyond event coordination to include identifying relevant Chinese OEMs and facilitating technical and commercial discussions.
CLK said it would continue working with NCDMB, PETAN, indigenous oil and gas companies, and Chinese manufacturers to promote technology transfer, investment, manufacturing, and local supply-chain development. The Chengdu engagement represents an opportunity to deepen Nigeria-China cooperation while supporting Nigeria's drive to develop domestic industrial and oil and gas manufacturing capacity.
The collaboration between CLK, NCDMB, and Chinese manufacturers is expected to have a positive impact on Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
