The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has called on organisations and human resource professionals to translate knowledge gained at its conferences into tangible improvements in workplace performance and organisational value. This challenge was issued by Ahmed Ladan Gobir, President and Chairman of the CIPM Governing Council, at the close of a four-day conference in Abuja. The event drew over 4,000 physical delegates and more than 1,000 virtual participants from Nigeria and other countries.

The conference, themed 'Repositioning for Value and Impact,' brought together HR professionals, business leaders, policymakers, academics, and international experts. Discussions focused on various topics, including human-centred leadership, public-sector transformation, organisational performance, governance, workforce productivity, artificial intelligence, human capability, professional standards, career development, and changing expectations of business leaders from the HR profession. The CIPM president emphasised that the real test of the conference would be what participants did with the knowledge gained after returning to their organisations.

Gobir stressed that the conclusion of the conference should mark the beginning of practical implementation of the ideas and lessons generated during the event. He encouraged participants to ensure that the knowledge gained translated into action, measurable value, and lasting impact. The CIPM president highlighted that the conference had provided participants with knowledge and professional connections but challenged them to drive workplace transformation.

The CIPM is expanding its international engagement through mutual recognition arrangements and strategic partnerships with global professional bodies. These partnerships include the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR), the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA). The aim is to strengthen professional standards and ensure Nigerian HR practitioners remain competitive globally.

Gobir announced that the Third African Human Resource Summit would be held alongside the 59th International Conference and Exhibition in 2027. This event will provide another platform for HR practitioners across the continent to deepen professional collaboration and address emerging workforce and organisational challenges. The conference featured business executives, public-sector leaders, HR experts, and thought leaders who challenged participants to reconsider conventional approaches to people management.

The CIPM president thanked delegates, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and partners for their contributions to the conference. He emphasised that with the conference concluded, the emphasis had shifted from discussion to implementation. Gobir urged HR professionals to demonstrate the relevance of people management through improved productivity, stronger organisations, and measurable value in the workplace.

The conference aimed to equip HR professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive organisational value and impact. By implementing the lessons learned, HR professionals can contribute to improved workplace performance and organisational growth. The CIPM remains committed to providing a platform for HR professionals to network, learn, and grow.
