The Assemblies of God General Council Men's Day celebration was held at Assemblies of God Church, Aboru 1 in Lagos, under the leadership of Rev. Jonathan Otisi. During the event, Elder Theophilus Ozimede, the Men's President of Aboru 1, delivered a message urging Christians to deepen their evangelism efforts. He emphasized the need for Christians to launch a new frontier that will enlarge the kingdom of God.
Elder Ozimede defined the new frontier as evangelism, stressing that Christians can no longer afford to sit in one place while many souls remain unreached. He encouraged the congregation to wake up from their slumber and work in a manner that would deprive Satan's kingdom and bring souls into God's fold. According to him, when Christians say they are moving to a new frontier, it means they have to leave where they are and move forward to acquire people into the kingdom of God.
The Men's President cited biblical examples, including Abraham and Moses, who were called by God to leave their comfort zones and explore new territories. He reminded the congregation that God always calls people beyond where they are, and it is their responsibility to respond to this call. Elder Ozimede also emphasized the importance of living a godly life, as people's characters can either lead them to God or away from Him.
He identified fear, delay, procrastination, and lack of money as barriers that can hinder individuals from going out for evangelism. However, he stressed that God has a way of settling these perceived issues. Elder Ozimede encouraged the congregation to sponsor someone for evangelism if they are unable to go out themselves, and to engage people one on one on the street about Christ.
The Men's President highlighted the importance of house fellowship and one-on-one approaches in drawing souls to God. He encouraged the congregation to launch out and engage people in their neighborhoods, sharing the word of God and inviting them to join the fold. According to him, even if people do not listen, the message has been delivered, and a day will come when they will remember and repent.
The annual celebration concluded with a couples' hang-out, where men gathered with their wives for a feast and a picnic-like atmosphere that allowed for the renewal of marital vows. This event provided an opportunity for the men to bond with their families and reflect on their roles as husbands and fathers.
The AGC Men's Day celebration served as a reminder of the importance of evangelism and the need for Christians to take an active role in spreading the gospel. As the Christian faithful move forward, they are encouraged to prioritize evangelism and work together to enlarge the kingdom of God.
