In a move to enhance security, China's Yiwu International Trade Market has begun deploying robot guards. At 10 pm, when the market quiets down, a group of quadruped robots emerge from automatic doors to start their nightly patrols. According to the market's administration, 16 robot dogs have been introduced as new security guards since last month. The market, located in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, is a major hub for foreign trade and features a vast network of corridors and thousands of stalls.

The Yiwu International Trade Market is the world's largest market for small goods, spanning over 6.4 million square meters. Previously, conducting patrols in such a large complex was a challenging task for human guards. Zhou Weijie, from the market's management company, noted that the robots never get tired and can recharge automatically when their batteries run low. This allows them to work around the clock without interruption.

The quadruped robots can cover an area in just one and a half hours that would take human guards two and a half hours to patrol. They are capable of navigating complex corridors, climbing stairs, and reaching areas that are difficult for humans to access. Equipped with thermal imaging devices and high-resolution cameras, the robots assist staff in monitoring crowd movements during daytime patrols.

At night, the robots can detect unusual heat sources, such as fires or intruders. Their advanced sensors and cameras enable them to provide an additional layer of security. According to Xu Yan, a trader at the market, the introduction of robot security guards has not only brought a sense of innovation but also provided an added sense of security.

The market's management aims to leverage the robots' capabilities to improve overall security and efficiency. With their ability to work tirelessly and navigate challenging areas, the robots are expected to play a significant role in maintaining the market's safety. The introduction of robot guards is part of a broader effort to integrate technology and innovation into daily operations.

The use of robot security guards in the Yiwu International Trade Market reflects a growing trend of automation and technological advancement in various industries. As technology continues to evolve, it is likely that more businesses and organizations will adopt similar solutions to enhance their operations and services.

The market's traders and visitors have welcomed the introduction of robot security guards, citing the benefits of enhanced security and peace of mind. With the robots' advanced capabilities and the market's commitment to innovation, the Yiwu International Trade Market is poised to continue its growth and success as a major hub for international trade.
