A Chadian delegation led by Ambassador Mohamed Saleh visited the Institut supérieur de génie électrique du Burkina Faso (ISGE-BF) on September 30, 2026. The visit aimed to discuss technical and technological training, student mobility, and scientific cooperation between the two countries. ISGE-BF could become a key partner for Chad in technical training, according to the ambassador. He was impressed by the institute's infrastructure and equipment. The Chadian delegation showed particular interest in the technological equipment and student involvement in their training.

Ambassador Mohamed Saleh expressed satisfaction with ISGE-BF's installations and potential. He noted that the skills developed at ISGE-BF should benefit not only Burkina Faso but also the entire African continent. This vision could lead to increased cooperation between African institutions. The ambassador plans to contact relevant structures and ministries in Chad to revive bilateral cooperation in technical training. This cooperation could include identifying opportunities for scientific and technical collaboration between the two countries.

ISGE-BF's director-general, Innocent Compaoré, sees potential for cooperation with Chad in student mobility. Some Chadian students are already interested in attending ISGE-BF, despite a lack of specific promotional efforts in Chad. This interest could be leveraged to increase the institute's visibility in Chad. Compaoré also hopes to establish partnerships with Chadian institutions for training and higher education. Such cooperation would be a South-South exchange, focusing on competence sharing, training, and mobility.

ISGE-BF was founded by the Chamber of Commerce and 17 other companies to provide training that meets professional needs. The institute started by training higher technicians in 2003 and launched a program for engineering students in 2006. In 2016, ISGE-BF introduced a new cycle for design engineers, accessible to holders of a BAC+2 or BAC+3 in scientific or technological fields. The institute aims to produce profiles that meet the needs of the professional world.

The Chadian delegation's visit follows discussions between Ambassador Mohamed Saleh and ISGE-BF's director-general, Innocent Compaoré. The visit allowed the ambassador to see firsthand the institute's infrastructure, equipment, and training programs. He expressed his intention to strengthen cooperation between Chad and Burkina Faso in technical training. This cooperation could have a positive impact on the development of human resources in both countries.

ISGE-BF's cooperation with Chad could lead to new opportunities for students and professionals in both countries. The institute's experience in training engineers and technicians could be shared with Chadian institutions. In return, Chad could offer its expertise in specific areas to ISGE-BF. This exchange would enrich the training programs offered by both institutions.

The visit by the Chadian delegation marks a new step in the cooperation between Burkina Faso and Chad in technical training. The two countries could benefit from each other's experiences and expertise in this field. As Ambassador Mohamed Saleh stated, the goal is to "remise les choses sur les rails" – to get things back on track – in terms of cooperation between Chad and Burkina Faso.
