The Conseil provincial du Moyen-Chari has made a significant donation to the provincial hospital Dr Outel Bono in Sarh, Chad. On October 10, 2026, the council provided 36 solar panels, each with a capacity of 425 watts, to enhance the hospital's energy autonomy and improve patient care. This initiative aims to address the hospital's energy needs, particularly in critical areas such as maternity, operating theater, and emergency services.

According to Dr Mekonyo Kolmian, the provincial delegate of public health for Moyen-Chari, the donation is a vital response to the hospital's energy requirements. He emphasized that electricity is not just a comfort but a necessity in a hospital setting, enabling medical staff to perform deliveries, surgeries, and emergency care effectively. Dr Kolmian urged the hospital management and staff to maintain and utilize the equipment responsibly to ensure its longevity.

Dieudonné Djonabaye, president of the Conseil provincial du Moyen-Chari, highlighted the significance of the hospital as a communal asset that requires collective support. He stressed the need for the hospital to recruit a surgeon to bolster its medical capabilities, although he acknowledged that the council's current resources do not permit this. Djonabaye also mentioned plans to address the street lighting in front of the hospital.

Abderaman Ahmat Bargou, the Délégué général du gouvernement auprès de la province du Moyen-Chari, commended the council's initiative, describing it as a substantial contribution to the healthcare system. He noted that the hospital attends to numerous patients daily and performs approximately 30-35 surgical interventions monthly, underscoring the necessity of a reliable electricity source.

Bargou emphasized that the donation goes beyond mere equipment, as it enhances working conditions for medical staff and protects patients' lives. He urged the hospital authorities and personnel to use the equipment responsibly and maintain it regularly. The Délégué général du gouvernement also acknowledged the council's efforts to improve the hospital's infrastructure.

The hospital's reliance on the donated solar panels is crucial, given its role in providing medical services to the local population. With a reliable energy source, medical staff can perform critical procedures, including surgeries and emergency care, more effectively. The donation is expected to have a positive impact on patient care and outcomes.

The Conseil provincial du Moyen-Chari's initiative demonstrates its commitment to supporting the local healthcare system. The donation of solar panels is a practical solution to the hospital's energy challenges, and the council's efforts to address other needs, such as street lighting and staffing, reflect its dedication to improving the overall healthcare experience in the region.
