The 4th edition of Chad's Gastronomic Days, organized by the National Office for the Promotion of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Arts (ONPTA), came to a close on November 1, 2026, at the Talino Manu space in N'Djamena. The event, which ran from October 30 to November 1, 2026, showcased the rich culinary traditions of Chad and the skills of women chefs and restaurateurs from across the country. This year's theme was "Chadian Gastronomy: Our Flavors, Our Cultural Identity."

The three-day event featured a diverse range of culinary experiences, highlighting the best of Chadian cuisine. For the first time, two restaurants from Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire participated, introducing attendees to new flavors and culinary techniques. Mam Diarra and Youpougon, representing Senegalese and Ivoirian cuisine, respectively, added an international dimension to the event. Their participation allowed visitors to explore a broader range of African culinary traditions.

The closing ceremony saw the presentation of awards to the top three women chefs and the top three restaurants. In the "Cuisine" category, the winner was a representative from the Wadi Fira province, followed by a chef from the Guéra province in second place and a chef from the Mayo-Kebbi Ouest province in third. The "Restaurants" category saw Versailles from Logone Occidental take the top spot, with Tourne-dos from N'Djamena in second and Delicia, also from N'Djamena, in third.

The event not only celebrated Chadian cuisine but also recognized the contributions of international participants. Representatives from Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal received participation certificates, as did other participants who made significant contributions to the event. The ONPTA's initiative aims to promote Chadian culture and culinary heritage, both domestically and internationally.

Fatimata Diakité, a prominent figure in Chad's culinary scene, was among those recognized for her contributions. The event provided a platform for women chefs and restaurateurs to showcase their talents and share their passion for Chadian cuisine. By highlighting the skills and creativity of these individuals, the Gastronomic Days promote the importance of preserving and celebrating cultural heritage.

The 4th edition of the Gastronomic Days demonstrated the growing interest in Chadian cuisine and the potential for cultural exchange through food. By bringing together chefs, restaurateurs, and food enthusiasts, the event fostered a sense of community and appreciation for the country's rich culinary traditions. The ONPTA's efforts to promote tourism, handicrafts, and arts have contributed significantly to the event's success.
