Chad's Minister of Public Service and Social Dialogue, Abdallah Ambedou Ambami, has reaffirmed Chad's commitment to promoting fair and sustainable labor mobility between Africa and Gulf states. This statement was made during the second edition of the Doha Dialogue, which took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on October 5-6, 2026. The event, organized by Qatar and the African Union Commission, brought together labor ministers from over 33 countries.

The meeting aimed to convert the commitments of the 2024 Doha Declaration into practical mechanisms for governing labor mobility. Discussions focused on fair employment, protection of migrant workers' rights, and skills development. Minister Ambami emphasized the importance of transparent employment contracts, wage protection, occupational safety, health coverage, and access to justice for Chadian workers abroad.

Ambami also called for the development of vocational training in Africa that aligns with the labor market needs of Gulf states. He stressed Chad's commitment to aligning its legal frameworks with best practices in labor market governance. This move is expected to enhance the employability of Chadian workers in Gulf states while ensuring their rights are protected.

On the sidelines of the dialogue, Ambami met with his Qatari counterpart to discuss the completion of a memorandum of understanding on labor mobility between Chad and Qatar. This agreement aims to facilitate the movement of workers between the two countries while ensuring their rights and welfare are safeguarded.

The Doha Dialogue provided a platform for African and Gulf states to discuss ways to enhance cooperation on labor issues. The event highlighted the need for a more structured and regulated approach to labor mobility, ensuring that workers' rights are protected and that labor markets are efficient.

Minister Ambami's participation in the Doha Dialogue underscores Chad's commitment to international cooperation on labor issues. His engagement with other labor ministers and stakeholders reflects Chad's efforts to promote fair labor practices and protect the rights of its workers abroad.

The outcomes of the Doha Dialogue are expected to contribute to improved labor governance and cooperation between African countries and Gulf states. Chad's reaffirmation of its commitment to fair and sustainable labor mobility is a significant step towards achieving these goals.
