On September 24, stakeholders from Chad and France gathered in Jalogny, Saône-et-Loire, eastern France, to identify investment opportunities for modernizing Chad's livestock, meat, and dairy sectors. The meeting, organized ahead of the Chad-France Business Forum, brought together around a dozen organizations and private actors to discuss cooperation prospects. This event is part of a mission conducted from September 21 to 24 by a delegation from Chad's Multi-Actor Consultation Framework (CACOMUT) in Saône-et-Loire.

The delegation engaged with French companies and organizations specializing in agri-food equipment, animal feed, slaughtering, processing, distribution, and cold chain management. These exchanges allowed Chadian actors to confront their needs with French competencies and available solutions. Discussions focused on animal identification and traceability, improving productivity and genetics, developing fodder crops, and modernizing slaughtering and processing equipment.

The meeting also highlighted priorities such as milk collection and processing, strengthening the cold chain, vocational training, equipment maintenance, and improving sanitary standards. These investments aim to increase production, reduce losses, and facilitate market access. Through CACOMUT and the "LAHAM NADIF" initiative, participants plan to establish an incubation center for livestock and two pilot projects.

The goal is to evolve cooperation from primarily aid-based to a model based on co-investment and shared risks, responsibilities, and benefits. Future projects will involve companies, professional organizations, technical partners, and financial institutions. Financing could combine private capital, credits, subsidies, and in-kind contributions.

Selected initiatives will be presented to French and European financing mechanisms, including the European Union's Global Gateway, as well as private investors. According to Kedaï Edith, related to the initiative, this marks a significant step towards enhancing Chad's livestock sector through collaborative efforts.

The upcoming Chad-France Business Forum, scheduled for September 25, will bring together businesses and investors. This event is expected to further solidify partnerships and investment agreements for the development of Chad's livestock, meat, and dairy sectors.

Chad's efforts to modernize its livestock sector have garnered attention from French stakeholders, who see potential for growth and collaboration. With a focus on sustainable development and mutual benefit, the identified projects aim to have a lasting impact on Chad's agricultural and food industries.
