In celebration of the International Day of the Girl, Chad's Impact Ladies association organized a conference at Lycée l’Assomption to discuss the importance of investing in girls' education and empowering them to excel in their chosen fields. The event, themed "Investing in Girls Today, Building a Better Chad Tomorrow," aimed to challenge stereotypes and encourage girls to take advantage of the digital revolution.
The conference, moderated by Amina Carine, a member of Impact Ladies and parliamentary assistant at the Senate, focused on promoting positive change and encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, technology, and other fields. Carine emphasized the need for responsible use of digital tools, urging the girls to utilize technology to enhance their learning and research.
Tena Florence, coordinator of Impact Ladies' advocacy unit, encouraged the girls to pursue their dream careers without being limited by societal stereotypes. She emphasized that women can excel in any field, just like men, and that they should not be held back by outdated notions of what is suitable for women.
Djekouayom Gladys, another panelist, highlighted the significance of the scientific and digital revolution in today's world. She stressed that this revolution is not limited to specific fields but has become an essential part of everyday life. Gladys cautioned the girls against over-reliance on artificial intelligence, emphasizing the importance of using technology as a tool rather than a substitute for critical thinking.
The conference provided a platform for girls to ask questions and seek guidance on choosing their career paths and overcoming societal prejudices. The event aimed to inspire girls to have confidence in their abilities and to pursue their goals, despite potential obstacles.
According to Impact Ladies, many girls in Chad abandon their ambitions due to societal pressures and stereotypes, rather than a lack of talent. The conference sought to address this issue by providing role models and offering guidance and support to help girls make informed decisions about their education and career paths.
The event concluded with a call to action, emphasizing the need for a change in the way communities and families perceive the educational and career aspirations of young girls. By promoting a culture of empowerment and support, Impact Ladies hopes to inspire a new generation of confident and ambitious young women in Chad.
