Captain Smart, a former Onua TV presenter, has fulfilled his promise to provide support to first-year senior high school students in the Gomoa West Constituency. He donated chop boxes, trunks, and mattresses to the students, showcasing his commitment to the community. This gesture comes as he continues to build his profile in the constituency ahead of his parliamentary bid. Captain Smart declared his intention to contest the NDC parliamentary primaries in Gomoa West on June 1, 2026.
The donation was shared by a TikTok page, CAPTAINE SMART MP FOR G.W.C, which backs his ambition to represent the constituency. According to the post, Captain Smart had earlier promised to provide the items to first-year SHS students in Gomoa West, and he has now fulfilled that promise. The page described the gesture as proof that actions speak louder than words and a promise kept. This move is seen as a demonstration of Captain Smart's dedication to the community.
Captain Smart's real name is Blessed Godsbrain Smart, and he has been actively engaging with the community in Gomoa West. Over the past few months, he has funded various projects, including boreholes, a CHPS compound, and a six-unit classroom block at Gomoa Mankessim. These initiatives have contributed to his growing popularity in the constituency, which is currently represented by Richard Gyan-Mensah, who won the seat in 2020.
The Gomoa West seat is expected to be contested by Captain Smart in the upcoming parliamentary primaries. The TikTok page supporting his candidacy has been actively sharing updates on his activities, highlighting his commitment to the constituency.
The donation of chop boxes, trunks, and mattresses to first-year SHS students comes at a time when the Ghana Education Service (GES) directed senior high schools not to turn away students over the type of trunk or chop box they bring. This directive was made less than two weeks before Captain Smart's donation, which has been seen as a timely and relevant gesture.
In addition to his philanthropic efforts, Captain Smart has also been involved in manual labor in the constituency. Captain Smart's campaign is gaining momentum, with his supporters highlighting his community engagement and commitment to development. As he continues to build his profile and connect with residents, his bid for the parliamentary seat is expected to be a significant one.
