The Cameroonian government has initiated payments for the third quarter of 2026 under the special allocation account for university research modernization. This move follows directives from President Paul Biya to enhance governance in state universities, focusing on fundamental and applied research to support development. According to a communiqué from the Minister of State for Higher Education, the first tranche of funds has been mobilized by the Minister of Finance.
A total of 429,775,000 FCFA has been transferred to 574 lecturers and researchers via their bank accounts for the third quarter of 2026. The payments are being processed systematically, in line with a schedule determined by the relevant departmental services and based on the availability of public funds. This step aims to ensure that lecturers and researchers receive their allocations in a timely manner.
For those lecturers and researchers who will be collecting their funds through a different method, known as "billetage," arrangements have been made. They will be able to collect their funds starting from October 8, 2026, at 12 hours, at the Accounting Agency of the Special Allocation Account for University Research Modernization.
