The event, which took place on September 23, 2026, was organized in partnership with the Recover Foundation in Africa, a civil society organization that has been working in health cooperation in Cameroon since 2007. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of health facilities and their staff to improve access to quality care for people, especially the most vulnerable.
The workshop was chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of External Relations, Chinmoun Oumarou, on behalf of the Minister, and was attended by the Ambassador of Spain to Cameroon, Juan-Pedro Pérez-Gómez Delaunay. The event brought together stakeholders to discuss the integration of telemedicine into health systems in Africa. Telemedicine is the practice of caring for patients remotely using electronic information and communication technologies when the doctor and patient are not in the same room.
According to Marta Maranon, General Manager of Recover Foundation in Africa, the objective of the conference was to present telemedicine as a tool that makes it possible to ensure effective, fair, and quality access to healthcare, even in the hardest-hit areas and for people who are least mobile and farthest from health systems.
