Cameroon and Poland are exploring opportunities for cooperation in the railway sector. The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Massena Ngallè Bibéhè, recently met with Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wojciech Zajaczkowski, in Yaoundé to discuss potential partnerships. The meeting focused on cooperation in the transport sector, with a particular emphasis on railway development and critical infrastructure protection.

Poland has expressed interest in supporting Cameroon's ambitious railway projects. According to Wojciech Zajaczkowski, the Polish delegation was impressed by the government's plans for the sector. The projects include the renewal of the Douala-Yaoundé and Belabo-Ngaoundéré lines, as well as the extension of the network to Ngaoundéré-Ndjamena, Edéa-Kribi-Campo, and Mbalam-Kribi.

The 48th session of the Interministerial Committee on Railway Infrastructure (Comifer) held in July reported progress on the implementation of the Second Five-Year Plan (PQ2). The plan includes the renewal of key railway lines, with tender offers expected to be announced soon. Cameroon Railway (Camrail) is overseeing the process, which aims to modernize the country's rail network.

The development of Cameroon's railway sector is crucial for the country's economic growth and regional integration. The proposed extensions to the network will improve connectivity with neighboring countries and enhance the country's position in the Central African region. Poland's interest in partnering with Cameroon on these projects could bring significant benefits to both countries.

The Polish delegation's visit to Cameroon follows a series of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The meeting between the Minister of Transport and the Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs highlights the growing interest in partnerships between Cameroon and European countries.

Cameroon has already mobilized approximately 350 billion FCFA from technical and financial partners for the implementation of the PQ2. The funds will support the renewal of railway lines, the acquisition of new equipment, and the development of related infrastructure. The successful implementation of these projects is expected to have a positive impact on the country's economy and transportation sector.

The cooperation between Cameroon and Poland in the railway sector has the potential to yield significant benefits for both countries. Poland's expertise in railway development and management could support Cameroon's efforts to modernize its rail network and improve the efficiency of its transportation sector. The partnership could also create new opportunities for economic growth and regional integration.
