Dr. Abdel Hadi El- Awadi, director of the Intellectual Property Protection Office, noted that the digital platform represents a significant development in the office's operations, making it easier for researchers and innovators to access its services. The office has also prepared a new intellectual property policy for Cairo University, which provides a comprehensive framework for managing intellectual property rights and distributing economic returns.
The Intellectual Property Protection Office has been actively involved in various initiatives, including participating in the first Cairo University AI Nexus conference, where it organized sessions on the legal and ethical challenges of AI applications. The office has also implemented awareness programs and events to educate researchers and creators about intellectual property rights and protection mechanisms.
In support of researchers and innovators, the office has provided technical assistance and consultations through direct meetings, electronic sessions, and various communication channels. It has also helped with prior art searches and technical evaluations of innovations, offering advice on suitable legal and technical means for protection.
The office has contributed to the registration of 10 patent applications in fields such as engineering, agriculture, environment, health, veterinary medicine, and energy between 2024 and 2026. Cairo University's president has urged the office to activate its intellectual property policy across the university's sectors, colleges, and institutes, and to expand awareness of intellectual property rights and protection mechanisms.
