Cairo University has initiated a nationwide student competition, "October in the Eyes of Cairo University Students," under the slogan "From the Memory of Victory to Building the Future." This event commemorates the 53rd anniversary of Egypt's glorious October War victories. The competition invites students to express their perspectives on the significance of October victories through various creative outlets.
The competition features five distinct categories, including short films, digital design and infographics, creative writing, podcasting and documentation, and innovation. In the short film category, participants are required to produce a film lasting 3-5 minutes that draws inspiration from the October War. The digital design and infographic category encourages students to present a visually engaging narrative about the war.
The creative writing category prompts students to write an article or short story in response to the question, "What does October mean to a generation that did not experience the war?" Podcasting and documentation involve producing an audio or video recording that captures a personal story or historical account related to the October War. The innovation category invites students to develop projects that address current challenges using the spirit of October.
Cairo University has allocated significant cash prizes for the winners of each category: 10,000 pounds for first place, 5,000 pounds for second place, and 2,000 pounds for third place. Additionally, the competition includes an inter-college challenge called "October Cup," where teams from different faculties will compete in a quiz-based format.
The "October Cup" competition will feature questions and challenges related to the October War from historical, national, scientific, and technological perspectives. The winning team will receive 50,000 pounds, while the second-place team will receive 25,000 pounds. Participants can register individually or in groups, depending on the category.
The competition is open for registration from October 3 to October 22, 2026. Interested students can submit their work through the General Administration for Youth Care at Cairo University or their respective faculty's youth care administration. A closing ceremony will be held to announce the winners and showcase outstanding submissions.
