The University of Bondoukou's UFR Sciences du langage, Lettres et Langues étrangères (S3LE) has achieved a remarkable 82.82% success rate for the previous academic year. This was announced by the UFR's director, Professor Houméga Alida épouse Gozé, during the academic year 2026-2027 opening ceremony on September 25, 2026. The professor congratulated the entire university community on this achievement, highlighting the efforts made to attain such a high success rate.
The UFR S3LE has also made significant progress in terms of student enrollment, with numbers increasing from 308 to 501 students. This represents a substantial growth, with 212 new students joining the institution. Professor Gozé emphasized the importance of integrating these new students into the university environment, encouraging older students to positively mentor their juniors.
In addition to the success rate and increased enrollment, the UFR S3LE has obtained impressive results in the evaluations conducted by the Conseil africain et malgache pour l'enseignement supérieur (CAMES). Out of 14 candidates, 13 were successful, demonstrating the UFR's commitment to academic excellence. Professor Gozé expressed her satisfaction with these results, highlighting the hard work and dedication of the university community.
To ensure that students are equipped with the necessary skills for the job market, the UFR S3LE is working to strengthen the connection between its programs and the needs of employers. This includes promoting the status of student-entrepreneur and establishing partnerships with various stakeholders. Professor Gozé emphasized that the goal is for students to have a job or be employable upon completing their studies.
The UFR S3LE has already established partnerships with institutions such as the Institut national de formation des agents de santé (INFAS), particularly in the field of speech therapy. These collaborations aim to provide students with practical skills and enhance their employability. Professor Sié Justin, Vice-President of the University of Bondoukou, praised the efforts of the UFR and its director, highlighting the need to align university programs with professional requirements.
A conference on "Reflections on Employability and Future Skills: Language Professions with Digital Tools" was also held during the academic year opening ceremony. The conference, led by Baba Kaboré, focused on the importance of considering artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to enhance language profession skills. The speaker encouraged students to adapt to the changing job market and develop skills that complement AI.
The conference provided a platform for students to engage with the speaker and explore the possibilities offered by digital tools in language professions. A practical demonstration and discussions with students illustrated the potential of AI in areas such as translation, writing, transcription, and speech analysis. The event aimed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their chosen careers.
