Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire - In a bid to support the education of vulnerable children and promote interest in science and technology among young girls, Fondation YFACTIONS and LRD Nouvelles Énergies have launched a campaign to distribute 6,500 school kits. The initiative, dubbed "L'École, l'Avenir de Notre Nation," aims to provide 5,000 school kits to students from economically vulnerable families, rural and peri-urban areas, as well as deserving students and children in vulnerable situations.
The campaign also includes 1,500 scientific kits for young girls as part of the "Jeunes Filles et Sciences" program, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and digital literacy. The launch event took place at the Ivoire Golf Club in Abidjan, attended by representatives from the initiating structures and several partners. The campaign is expected to continue until November in over 15 communes and localities across the country.
The Bafing region in northwest Côte d'Ivoire is the featured territory for this edition, with distributions planned in Touba, Ouaninou, Koro, Booko, Borotou, Guintéguéla, and Koonan, among others. Additional localities, including Attégouakro, Grabo, Kononfla, Bobi, Dabakala, Danané, and Tengréla, will also benefit from the initiative. To ensure transparency and accountability, the organizers have put in place a monitoring system.
The monitoring system includes the identification of beneficiaries, establishment of nominal lists, signing of receipt documents, and production of narrative and financial reports. Since the initiative's inception in 2021-2022, Fondation YFACTIONS and LRD Nouvelles Énergies have distributed 14,000 kits, including 4,500 scientific kits. If the objectives for the 2026-2027 edition are fully met, the total number of kits distributed will reach 20,500, with 6,000 being scientific kits.
Ali Badarah Konaté, President of Fondation YFACTIONS, emphasized that this action is a demonstration of solidarity in favor of the youth. The campaign builds on previous initiatives, such as the one conducted in Bobi in September 2024 and the distribution of 100 scientific kits to female students at the Lycée Moderne de Tengréla in January 2025.
Preparations for the current edition began on September 10, 2026, with an initial order of 1,000 school bags. Three days later, 211 school books had been received, according to the organizers. The operations of packaging, transportation, and distribution of the kits will continue from September to November.
Through this initiative, Fondation YFACTIONS and LRD Nouvelles Énergies aim to alleviate the financial burden associated with the start of the school year and encourage young girls to pursue interests in science, technology, and digital literacy. The campaign is a significant step towards promoting education and equality in Côte d'Ivoire.
