In Adiaké, Côte d'Ivoire, a sensitization session was held on October 8, 2026, for cocoa producers and buyers on new marketing modalities, particularly the use of a producer card and traceability requirements for the 2026-2027 campaign. The session was organized by the regional delegate of the Coffee and Cocoa Council in Sud-Comoé, Koffi Kan Roland. This initiative is part of a sensitization tour aimed at informing stakeholders about the new measures in place for the cocoa marketing season that began on September 1, 2026.

The new marketing requirements emphasize the importance of traceability, with the producer card playing a central role in the cocoa marketing system. According to Koffi Kan Roland, the system is based on three key elements: the producer card, sealed cocoa bags, and an electronic payment terminal (TPE) to ensure transaction and payment traceability. These measures aim to improve the monitoring and transparency of cocoa transactions.

The regional delegate also drew the attention of cocoa industry stakeholders to the European market's requirements for agricultural product traceability. He stressed that operators must comply with applicable rules to maintain their access to international markets. The Coffee and Cocoa Council has conducted a census of producers to issue them with cards that will enable them to carry out transactions related to the marketing of their production.

Koné Kapié, the prefecture's secretary general, urged producers and buyers to comply with government decisions and demonstrate discipline in implementing the new measures. He encouraged them to regularly consult with the regional delegation of the Coffee and Cocoa Council in Aboisso to stay informed about current regulations and developments in the sector.

The sensitization session took place in the Trazié Geraldo Lucie conference room and was attended by producers and buyers from Adiaké. The initiative aims to ensure that stakeholders are aware of and comply with the new marketing requirements, which are crucial for the cocoa sector in Côte d'Ivoire.

The implementation of these new measures is expected to improve the cocoa marketing system in Côte d'Ivoire, enhancing transparency and traceability. By complying with these requirements, producers and buyers can ensure their continued access to international markets, particularly the European market, which is a significant outlet for Ivorian cocoa.

The Coffee and Cocoa Council's efforts to sensitize producers and buyers on the new marketing requirements demonstrate the government's commitment to improving the cocoa sector in Côte d'Ivoire. The use of producer cards and other measures will help to increase transparency and accountability in the sector.
