The Université polytechnique de Bingerville (UPB) in Côte d'Ivoire has taken steps to strengthen its programs aimed at improving youth employability. On October 3, 2026, the institution held its solemn back-to-school ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year. The event, themed "The University Facing the Challenges of Digital Transformation and Youth Employability," allowed the university to unveil its new initiatives.
During the ceremony, Abdoulaye Karamoko, President of the Board of Directors, outlined the university's main orientations in response to technological changes and job market needs. Key initiatives include the launch of an incubator to support innovative student projects and promote activity creation. The incubator aims to accompany students in developing their ideas and turning them into viable projects.
The UPB is also set to introduce new facilities, including a cybersecurity laboratory and modernized technological infrastructure. These additions are part of the institution's strategic plan, "UPB Performance 2026-2030." This plan seeks to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the job market. Furthermore, the university has partnered with Huawei to recruit young talent on campus.
In addition to these initiatives, the UPB plans to strengthen its collaborations with the Club des ingénieurs industriels de Côte d'Ivoire and other public and private structures. These partnerships aim to increase internship and job placement opportunities for students. The university's goal is to produce competent, creative, and responsible graduates capable of innovating and addressing the country's challenges.
Dr. Diaby Moustapha, Academic Director, announced the gradual introduction of alternating training in certain master's programs. This approach seeks to bring students closer to the business world and enhance their employability. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience, students will be better prepared to enter the workforce.
The inaugural conference, delivered by Konaté Lassina, Director General of Digital Transformation Platform Côte d'Ivoire (DTP-CI), emphasized the importance of technical and human skills in today's digital age. Lassina stressed that a diploma alone is no longer sufficient to guarantee job placement. Students must develop technical skills, as well as competencies in communication, teamwork, ethics, and adaptability.
The "UPB Performance 2026-2030" plan includes several key projects, such as new specialized rooms, renovated auditoriums, international mobility programs, and masterclasses with experts. The ceremony concluded with the recognition of top students in various fields and levels of study. These initiatives demonstrate the UPB's commitment to providing students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the job market.
