The Tourist Development Fund (FDT) of Côte d'Ivoire held a sensitization meeting in Yamoussoukro on October 5, 2026, to discuss the collection of the tourist development tax and the need to optimize its mobilization. The meeting brought together stakeholders from the tourism ecosystem, including agents from the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI), the Treasury, the municipality, and operators and other actors in the tourism sector.

The meeting aimed to inform stakeholders about the fiscal year 2026 dispositions, particularly those concerning the tourist development tax, and to examine the modalities of its collection with concerned administrations. According to FDT President Dr. N'Guettia Marcel, the meeting sought to promote coordination among different services involved in the sector. He emphasized the need for a unified approach to collecting the tax.

Discussions during the meeting addressed concerns related to tax collection, the functioning of the dispositif, and the conditions for tourism operators. The Director of Local Taxation at DGI, Balou Kéke-Noël, stated that the meeting was part of a national sensitization and mobilization tour for the tourist development tax, initiated by FDT with the authorization of the DGI Director-General.

Kéke-Noël highlighted the importance of coordinating actions among different administrations to ensure a common approach towards economic operators and to optimize tax mobilization. He also stressed the need to better inform clients of tourist establishments about the fiscal dispositif and their obligations. This includes when they benefit from services provided by sector enterprises.

FDT President Dr. N'Guettia Marcel indicated that mobilized revenues should enable the accompaniment of actors and financing of projects contributing to tourism development in different regions of the country. He emphasized the need for increased encadrement of actors to improve their services and enhance the competitiveness of Ivoirian tourist receptifs.

The meeting reinforced dialogue between the tax administration, territorial collectivities, and tourism professionals. The goal is to achieve better resource mobilization and more effective accompaniment of the sector's development. Stakeholders aim to transform resources into projects that promote tourism growth.
