The NGO Femmes d'Élites Côte d'Ivoire (OFECI) has initiated a national tour called "CECOO MUEFEL" to strengthen the empowerment of disadvantaged populations. The tour aims to support income-generating activities, small and medium-sized enterprises, and social welfare programs for independent workers. The launch ceremony took place on September 24, 2026, in Abidjan Plateau, under the patronage of Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Handicrafts, Ibrahim Khalil Konaté.
The national tour is led by the Committee for Listening and Objective Orientation of Disadvantaged Populations of the Mutual Aid Fund for Women of Elites (MUEFEL). This initiative seeks to engage with local communities, actors, authorities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders. The tour will cover 31 regions of Côte d'Ivoire and 14 communes of the autonomous district of Abidjan. Its primary goal is to identify the priority needs of populations and propose tailored solutions.
According to Diaby Mawa, President of OFECI, the organization aims to contribute to poverty reduction, economic autonomy, social cohesion, and sustainable development. She emphasized that CECOO MUEFEL is a platform for dialogue and partnership with the state, local authorities, the private sector, NGOs, and donors. The platform should become an instrument for mobilization, support, and empowerment of populations.
The Femmes d'Élites NGO was established in 2000 and has been working with vulnerable populations through assistance, poverty reduction, and social cohesion programs.
