The Conseil du Café-Cacao (CCC) has urged the Daloa regional delegation to accelerate the deployment and effective use of Côte d'Ivoire's national cocoa tracing system. This appeal was made during the official launch of the 2026-2027 campaign in Daloa on October 2, 2026. According to Kacou Dadié, director in charge of regional delegations and domestic commercialization at the CCC, the current state of implementation in Daloa is unsatisfactory compared to other regions like Divo and Gagnoa.

Dadié expressed concerns over the slow pace of implementation, highlighting that as of October 1, 2026, only 1,133 electronic payment terminals (TPE) had been deployed in the region. Additionally, 985,000 seals were available, with 98 active operators and 7,890 producers having carried out purchase operations through the system, totaling 4,341 registered tons. He encouraged the regional authorities to rapidly deploy teams to continue the enrollment of producers.

The national tracing system aims to meet the requirements of traceability and sustainability related to accessing the European market, particularly in the fight against deforestation and child labor. The system involves the registration of producers and mapping of their plots, allowing for the identification of product origin and secure commercialization. The producer card, a key tool, will serve multiple functions, including traceability, payment, and access to the Universal Health Coverage (CMU).

Dadié emphasized the importance of producers adhering to the national tracing system, which is an inevitable development, and encouraged them to familiarize themselves with its tools. Although a certain flexibility exists in its implementation, the system is expected to be generalized in the future. The CCC's call to action aims to enhance the tracing system's effectiveness and ensure compliance with international standards.

As of October 2026, 159,730 producers were registered in the system, and 105,241 producer cards had been received. The CCC is working to improve the tracing system's coverage and functionality, enabling better monitoring and control of cocoa production and trade in the region. This effort is crucial for maintaining Côte d'Ivoire's position as a major cocoa producer while adhering to international sustainability and traceability standards.

The implementation of the national tracing system is a strategic move to ensure the long-term sustainability of Côte d'Ivoire's cocoa sector. By enhancing traceability and reducing the risk of deforestation and child labor, the country aims to maintain its access to the European market and other international markets that prioritize sustainability. The CCC's initiative has been welcomed by stakeholders, who recognize the importance of adapting to new requirements.

The CCC will continue to work closely with regional delegations, including Daloa, to ensure the successful deployment and utilization of the national tracing system. By accelerating the implementation process and increasing awareness among producers, the CCC aims to achieve full coverage and functionality of the system, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and responsible cocoa sector in Côte d'Ivoire.
