The Collectif des agents techniques des Eaux et Forêts de Côte d'Ivoire (CATEFCI) has announced plans to strengthen its union action around improving the living and working conditions of its members. This will be achieved through the update of its claims and the adoption of a roadmap for the 2026-2027 period. The announcement was made by CATEFCI's Secretary-General, Soro Ouadjo, during the organization's first ordinary session, held on October 31, 2026, at the Hôtel des Armées in Abidjan.
The session brought together union leaders to discuss several key points, including general information, the presentation of bureau members, the validation of the 2026-2027 activity program, the examination of the claims matrix, and preparations for the upcoming electoral deadlines of the Eaux et Forêts Agents' Provident Fund. According to Soro Ouadjo, the meeting allowed union leaders to update their main claims and define actions to be taken during the year to consolidate the organization's implantation and expansion.
Among the major concerns are the revision of the régie distribution key, the improvement of career advancement prospects for Eaux et Forêts technical agents, and the revision of the contract linking BMI to agents. Specifically, regarding the régie, the Secretary-General considered it necessary to adapt its distribution mechanism to the evolution of staff numbers, which have increased from around 1,000 to nearly 7,000 agents.
Soro Ouadjo deplored the current situation, stating that if the distribution key is not updated, Eaux et Forêts technical agents will continue to work and receive only a small portion of the régie. He advocated for better consideration of their professional efforts. The Secretary-General also called for calm and responsibility regarding the Provident Fund, inviting candidates for its leadership to prepare for the upcoming elections, respecting the texts and regulatory provisions in force.
Soro Ouadjo praised the efforts of the Director-General of the National Eaux et Forêts School, Colonel-Major Wilfried Habib Kader Koulibaly, for his commitment to concretizing this training establishment, as well as the initiatives of the Provident Fund, which have enabled the establishment of a clinic in 2025 for the benefit of agents. A CATEFCI member, Bamba Moussa, welcomed the dynamic impetus given by the Secretary-General since his accession to the head of the union organization.
CATEFCI was created to defend the professional and social interests of Eaux et Forêts technical agents and is considered one of the union organizations in good standing with the Ivoirian forest administration. Its publication in the Official Journal dates back to August 3, 2026. According to its Secretary-General, the organization has made significant progress in representing its members' interests.
The roadmap adopted by CATEFCI for 2026-2027 aims to improve the well-being of its members, with a focus on updating claims and defining actions to be taken during the year. The organization hopes to consolidate its implantation and expansion, while advocating for better consideration of its members' professional efforts and improved working conditions.
