The Ivorian non-governmental organization, Initiative for Women's Empowerment and Leadership (IALF), recently organized a free breast and cervical cancer screening campaign in Ananda, Côte d'Ivoire. The event, which took place at the Ananda Urban Health Center, aimed to raise awareness and encourage women to prioritize their health. IALF President Estelle Amenan Kouamé urged participants to undergo screening for early detection and treatment.

The campaign, which was held over two days, was part of IALF's efforts to promote women's health and well-being. Kouamé emphasized that women's health is crucial to the community's overall well-being, stating that healthy women contribute to a better future. During the campaign, healthcare professionals provided information on prevention methods and the importance of regular check-ups.

A total of 286 women benefited from the screening, with 102 from Akpassanou and 184 from Ananda. The campaign was led by IALF, in collaboration with local healthcare professionals, including nurse Amani Randolphe and midwife Koffi Nadège. They provided education on cancer prevention and the availability of medical personnel for follow-up care.

Local authorities praised the initiative, with Daoukro-Ouellé Health Department Director Goh André commending IALF for its efforts to protect women's health. Participant Fofana Namsata expressed gratitude for the free screening, citing cost as a significant barrier to accessing such services.

The event was presided over by Ananda Sub-prefect Isabelle Yao Amédé Mégnan, who acknowledged IALF's commitment to women's health. Mégnan stressed the importance of early detection and screening in treating breast and cervical cancers. She encouraged women to take responsibility for their health, emphasizing that a healthy woman contributes to a thriving community.
