The Fonds de garantie automobile (FGA) has officially opened a new liaison office at the Regional Public Hospital (EPHR) in Abengourou, Côte d'Ivoire. This move aims to strengthen the organization's proximity to victims of road accidents and enhance their support. The opening is part of the national awareness campaign "FGA TOUR 2026," which focuses on providing systematic and free medical care to accident victims.
The Abengourou office brings the total number of operational FGA bureaus to 17, with plans to have 26 liaison offices across the country by 2027. The FGA is expanding its network to ensure better coverage and support for victims nationwide. Existing offices are already operational in cities such as Odienné, Korhogo, Bouaké, and Abidjan. Additional offices are planned for Ferkessédougou, Bouna, and Séguéla, among others.
According to Maizan Koffi Noël, Director-General of the FGA, the new office in Abengourou is a strategic move to decentralize services and provide support to victims outside of the economic capital. The FGA aims to establish a presence in all administrative regions of the country. This expansion will enable more efficient support and care for victims in their respective localities.
The FGA has made significant progress in supporting accident victims. In 2025, the organization provided care to 1,067 victims, and in the first half of 2026, they assisted over 1,285 victims. The need for such support is highlighted by the 25 accident cases recorded in August in Agnibilékrou, a town in the Indénié-Djuablin region.
The FGA was established by decree in 2009 and modified in 2024. As a public utility organization, it provides systematic and free medical care to road accident victims evacuated to public hospital emergency rooms. The FGA also offers compensation to victims in cases of hit-and-run accidents or when the responsible vehicle is uninsured.
The launch of the Abengourou office was marked by various activities, including public awareness campaigns, health personnel training, and the signing of conventions between the FGA and local health authorities. The event was attended by regional officials, including the Prefect of Abengourou.
