The Fondation Portéo has invested 45 million FCFA in the rehabilitation and equipping of the Ecole primaire publique (EPP) Zata 1 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire. This initiative aims to improve learning conditions for students and support their academic success. The project involved the renovation of seven classrooms, including structural reinforcement, roofing, plastering, tiling, electrical work, and painting.

The renovated classrooms have been equipped with 180 tables and benches. Additionally, a play area for preschoolers has been installed, and a sanitation block with latrines has been built to improve hygiene for the school community. The project was completed as part of the foundation's efforts to enhance educational infrastructure and promote student success.

The official handover ceremony took place on October 2, 2026, at which Claude Gervaise Djéréhé, Secretary General of the Yamoussoukro prefecture, urged parents to take care of the new facilities and become more involved in their children's education. She emphasized that the school belongs to the community and encouraged parents to ensure its cleanliness and support their children's academic journey.

Djéréhé also reminded parents of the importance of obtaining birth certificates for their children to prevent them from dropping out of school due to lack of administrative documents. Her remarks underscored the need for collaboration between parents, teachers, and the community to ensure the school's continued success.

Emmanuel Kalou, President of the Fondation Portéo, highlighted that the impact of the new infrastructure and equipment depends on their proper use by teachers, parents, and school administrators. He set an ambitious goal of achieving at least 95% success rate for students entering sixth grade at EPP Zata 1.

If this goal is met, the Fondation Portéo has pledged to rehabilitate the preschool section and provide the school with a photocopier. The foundation has a track record of supporting education, having distributed around 12,000 school kits to various schools since 2024, with plans to distribute 7,500 kits during the current campaign.

The rehabilitation of EPP Zata 1 is part of the Fondation Portéo's broader efforts to create improved learning environments and engage teachers, parents, and the community in promoting student success. By investing in educational infrastructure and resources, the foundation aims to make a lasting impact on the educational experience of students in Côte d'Ivoire.
