The director of the Divo regional delegation of the Côte d'Ivoire cocoa and coffee council, Elo Kouassi Evariste, presented the results of the 2025-2026 campaign at a meeting in Divo, expressing satisfaction with the volume of cocoa evacuated and the quality of production commercialized. The meeting was attended by the representative of the regional prefect of Lôh-Djiboua, emissaries of the council's general director, and numerous operators from the five departments covered by the Divo regional delegation.
According to Elo Kouassi Evariste, the Divo region recorded a good cocoa production during the previous campaign, but faced challenges in marketing due to the decline in international prices, leading to blockages in the removal of productions from cooperatives and unloading of cocoa at Abidjan and San Pedro ports. As of August 30, 2026, the cocoa evacuated from the Divo delegation area to the ports was 187,520.450 tons, involving a total of 235 operators.
The department of Lakota evacuated nearly 75,325 tons of cocoa with 80 operators, representing a 25.62% purchase rate, while the department of Divo evacuated over 48,049 tons with 79 operators, at a 11.26% rate. The department of Tiassalé had nearly 38,053 tons evacuated with 29 operators, at a 20.30% rate. These numbers indicate a varied performance across departments in the region.
Comparing the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 campaigns, the department of Divo saw an increase of 14,000 tons of cocoa evacuated, from over 34,000 tons to more than 48,000 tons. The entire Divo regional delegation reported 8,300 tons of cocoa unloaded as part of a special operation for residual cocoa from the 2025-2026 campaign.
Elo Kouassi Evariste highlighted that the Divo delegation produced high-quality cocoa, with a low rate of undergrades, humidity, and grainage. The region achieved a 1.81% undergrade rate, significantly below the national tolerance of 15%. This indicates a strong performance in terms of cocoa quality.
The Divo delegation provided support to operators, including 105,000 hectares of insecticides and 20,000 hectares of fungicides to treat cocoa trees during the previous campaign. Efforts also included the destruction of 3,600 hectares of cocoa trees affected by the swollen shoot disease and distribution of 282,000 tree seedlings for reforestation through agroforestry.
The council's efforts also extended to reviving the coffee sector, with 1,000 hectares of coffee seedlings and 4,000 hectares of Mercedes cocoa seedlings distributed to requesting producers. Additionally, support was provided to local communities, further solidifying the council's engagement with the region's stakeholders. The Divo regional delegation covers the departments of Divo, Lakota, Guitry, Tiassalé, and Taabo.
