Côte d'Ivoire's Senate President, Kandia Kamissoko Camara, has pledged to advocate for increased support from the Fund for Support to Women in Côte d'Ivoire (FAFCI) for women in the Gôh region. She noted that their engagement in economic and social activities warrants accompaniment and announced the establishment of a training framework for beneficiaries. The President of "La Régionale," a coordination of apolitical women's movements in the Gôh region, Mireille France Djédjé, welcomed the announcements. She stated that they addressed over 90% of the women's concerns and praised Camara's commitment to advocating for an increase in the FAFCI ceiling for the region's women. Djédjé also highlighted the usefulness of the announced training programs.
The ceremony also focused on the role of women in promoting peace, social cohesion, and economic development in the region. "La Régionale," established in 2013 by the Gôh Regional Council, brings together women from various communities and sensitivities in the region. A new team, led by Djédjé, took office in 2024 after overcoming operational challenges.
According to the organizers, a financing mechanism is already in place, providing loans to members. Over three million CFA francs are set to be disbursed starting in October. This financial support is expected to boost the economic activities of women in the region, enabling them to contribute more significantly to local development.
