The 2025-2026 campaign in Côte d'Ivoire's Abengourou region has shown a notable increase in the volumes of coffee and cocoa commercialized, alongside an improvement in the quality of cocoa. According to Yaya Kangouté, the regional delegate of the coffee-cocoa council, 62,351.611 tonnes of cocoa were commercialized during this period, up from 58,253 tonnes in the 2024-2025 campaign.

In addition to the increase in cocoa production, the volume of coffee commercialized also saw a significant rise, from 764 tonnes to 1,317 tonnes over the same period. This progression was accompanied by an improvement in the quality of cocoa, with the rate of under-grade cocoa decreasing from 6.78% to 2.50%. For coffee, the rate of green beans increased from 77.55% to 81.16%.

The improvements in both volume and quality have been attributed to the efforts made by operators and producers in the region. To support these efforts, 450,457 sacks for packaging coffee and cocoa were received, with 450,100 distributed to operators. Furthermore, 2,066 hectares of selected seeds were distributed to producers upon request.

As part of phytosanitary measures, 3,000 hectares of infested plots were treated, and phytosanitary products were distributed to cover 67,500 hectares for insecticides and 25,000 hectares for fungicides. The coffee revival initiative also saw the distribution of over 2,000 hectares of improved seedlings to producers, out of a target of 2,500 hectares.

The coffee-cocoa council continues its actions in agroforestry and reforestation, notably through the establishment of the regional antenna of the agroforestry platform. The fight against the swollen shoot disease, which affects cocoa orchards, is ongoing, with a target of uprooting 1,100 hectares of infected cocoa trees set for the 2025-2026 campaign.

On the traceability front, 68,961 producers were registered in the Abengourou regional delegation, of which 50,422 have already received their cards. During the 2025-2026 campaign, 112 cooperative societies were formed and equipped to use the national traceability system, enabling the purchase of 66,500 tonnes of coffee and cocoa through this device.

The main 2026-2027 campaign officially started on September 1, 2026, with a guaranteed purchase price of 1,200 FCFA/kg for well-fermented, well-dried, and well-sorted cocoa, and 1,300 FCFA/kg for well-dried, well-hulled, and well-sorted coffee. For the 2026-2027 campaign, 43 cooperative societies had already been coded by the launch date.
