The council of the Worodougou region in Côte d'Ivoire has provided 25 million FCFA in financial support to 321 meritorious students from low-income families. This initiative aims to assist parents with school-related expenses and encourage academic excellence. The program, implemented annually since 2013, is part of the region's efforts to support education and development.

The official handover ceremony took place on October 10, 2026, in Séguéla, under the presidency of the prefecture's second secretary general, Aristide Ango. Aboubacar Sidick Koné, the first vice-president of the regional council, represented the council's president, Bouaké Fofana. Koné explained that the program's goal is to alleviate financial burdens on parents and promote a culture of excellence in schools.

The selection process for the beneficiaries involves gathering applications from sub-prefectures and municipalities, which are then reviewed by a selection committee. Students are chosen based on their academic performance, behavior, and family socio-economic status. Koné emphasized that the support is not automatic and that students must meet the set criteria every year to remain eligible.

The second secretary general of the prefecture, Aristide Ango, commended the regional council's initiative, highlighting its contribution to human resource development and regional growth. He encouraged students to maintain their efforts and urged parents to closely monitor their children's academic progress.

N'Gbesso Amon, the regional director of National Education and Literacy (DRENA), expressed gratitude to the regional council's president for this initiative. He believes that this financial support will enable many students to continue their education under better conditions, ultimately benefiting the region's development.

This program demonstrates the Worodougou regional council's commitment to education and its role in supporting local students. By providing financial assistance to meritorious students, the council aims to foster a culture of academic excellence and help students from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve their full potential.

The 25 million FCFA in school support is a significant investment in the region's future, reflecting the council's dedication to improving educational outcomes and promoting socio-economic development in Worodougou. The initiative is set to have a positive impact on the lives of the 321 beneficiaries and their families.
