The government of Burkina Faso has announced that the second phase of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizenship Participation (JEPPC) will be held from October 2-16, 2026. The second phase of JEPPC 2026 will feature various activities, including cleanliness initiatives, participation in Faso Mêbo construction sites, blood donation drives, and promotion of local products. A key highlight of this phase is a government exhibition at the SIAO, which will run from October 2-9. During the exhibition, different government ministries will showcase their achievements and reforms, allowing visitors to interact directly with ministers and their technical teams.
The government exhibition will also feature a gastronomic space dedicated to national productions and a cultural village. The Minister of Information, Pengwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, has invited media representatives to attend the exhibition and witness the government's achievements firsthand. He emphasized the importance of the media in disseminating information to the public.
According to the Minister of Justice, Me Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, consuming Burkinabé products directly contributes to economic sovereignty. He stated that every franc spent abroad on products that can be produced locally results in the export of jobs. The government's focus on promoting local consumption is expected to boost the national economy and create employment opportunities.
The exhibition is also seen as a platform for accountability, with the government seeking to demonstrate its commitment to transparency and practical action. Pengwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo emphasized that the government wants to move beyond theoretical discussions and demonstrate concrete results to the Burkinabé people.
The second phase of JEPPC 2026 will also feature a tribute to Thomas Sankara on October 15, and the event will conclude with the Nuit des étoiles du Faso on October 16. The government exhibition will run until October 9, while the JEPPC activities will continue until October 16, 2026.
The National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizenship Participation were established by decree in November 2023, with the aim of consolidating national foundations, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting patriotism among the population. The event is an initiative to encourage citizen participation and engagement in national development.
