The 5th edition of the Symposium international sur le transport et la logistique en Afrique (Translog Africa) will be held in Ouagadougou from October 20-22, 2026. This was announced on October 2, 2026, during a press conference led by Denise Bado/Bouda, Director General of the Conseil burkinabè des chargeurs and President of the organizing committee. The event will feature communications, panels, and experience sharing among transport chain actors.
Translog Africa was established in 2007 and is an international meeting that brings together actors involved in goods transport and logistics. The symposium aims to provide a platform for reflection, exchange, and resilience, promoting collaboration among international logistics actors. The Conseil burkinabè des chargeurs (CBC) is the driving force behind this initiative. For Denise Bado/Bouda, transport and logistics are crucial for international trade actors, particularly shippers.
The 5th edition of Translog Africa will take place under the high patronage of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso. The chosen theme is "Résilience et sécurisation des chaînes logistiques dans un environnement mondial en pleine mutation" (Resilience and Securing Logistics Chains in a Changing Global Environment). This theme was selected due to the current international context, marked by multifaceted crises, geopolitical tensions, and commercial flow disruptions.
The Translog Africa program includes an introductory communication on the central theme and four panels covering eleven sub-themes. The panels will focus on resilience strategies, regional integration, industrialization, and the sustainability of port and logistics systems. Over 300 participants from more than a dozen countries, including those with maritime access and AES countries, are expected to attend.
Several innovations will be introduced during this edition, including a thematic introduction before the start of the work, experience exchanges between Central and West African countries, and tourist visits to several sites. According to Denise Bado, the event allows participants to network and better understand port operations for smoother goods circulation.
The President of the organizing committee noted that the 2024 edition enabled participants to understand the problems they often encounter at transit ports, allowing them to revise supply circuits and manage goods transport to avoid long waiting times and penalties. Ports of transit where importers faced difficulties were also approached, and mechanisms were put in place to facilitate the task for transporters.
The CBC is working to ensure that the commitments made by ports are respected. With over 300 participants expected, the 5th edition of Translog Africa aims to promote the resilience and security of logistics chains in a changing global environment, aligning with the interests of international trade actors.
