Ana Djiga, a young Burkinabé chef, is making a name for herself in the culinary world by promoting local products and traditional Burkinabé cuisine internationally. With a background in event management and self-taught culinary skills, Djiga has been working as a professional chef for nearly five years. Her passion for cooking dates back to her childhood, where she enjoyed organizing small family gatherings and creating menus for her guests.

Djiga's commitment to using local products sets her apart from other chefs. She incorporates ingredients such as peanuts, néré, dried mango, fonio, and souchet into her dishes, revisiting traditional recipes and creating new flavor combinations. Her goal is to showcase Burkinabé cuisine globally, believing that the country's rich culinary heritage can compete with international gastronomies if properly promoted and adapted to modern consumer habits.

Djiga recently participated in the "Souss Gastro" competition in Agadir, Morocco, representing Burkina Faso alongside chefs from nearly 20 countries. She presented nine traditional Burkinabé juices and a dish called "djouka," a combination of fonio and crushed peanuts with a chicken ballotine. Her efforts earned her a gold medal and trophy in the "Fruit Juice Assortment" category and a silver medal in the "Heritage Dish" category.

She recently organized the "Brunch of Cuisine and Pastry" in Bobo-Dioulasso, a networking event for professionals, enthusiasts, suppliers, and training institutions. The goal is to create a platform for discovering and valuing the talents of Burkinabé chefs and culinary experts.

Djiga's ambitions extend beyond this event, with plans to expand the concept to other regions of Burkina Faso and eventually open a gastronomic restaurant showcasing local flavors. She encourages young people to pursue their passions, particularly in the culinary arts, which she believes is a noble and creative profession.
