On October 10, 2026, Minister Ismaël Sombié visited the "Yere Ta" farm in Matourkou, Bobo-Dioulasso, as part of his monitoring of the 2026-2027 agropastoral campaign. He commended the CBF for its efforts to increase production capacity, improve seed availability, and promote good agricultural practices. The minister expressed his satisfaction with the farm's progress, noting that the yields are significant and the plants are healthy.

According to Clément Attiou, Director-General of the CBF, the farm covers a total area of 300 hectares, with 243 hectares cultivated during the current campaign. The farm focuses on three main types of production: seed production, food production, and fruit production. Specifically, 36 hectares are dedicated to seed production, including 17.6 hectares of cowpeas and 17 hectares of maize. Food production spans around 150 hectares, while fruit production covers nearly 80 hectares, featuring cashews, mangoes, and lemons.

Minister Sombié emphasized the importance of sustaining this momentum beyond the rainy season. He encouraged the CBF to prepare for the dry season by strengthening irrigation systems, which will enable the intensification of production and expansion of cultivated areas. The minister also recommended diversifying crops to include high-potential crops like palm oil, grapes, plantains, and cocoa. This, he believes, will make the "Yere Ta" farm a model for promoting adapted agricultural techniques and replicable production models.

The minister also visited the Guenako site in the Kénédougou province, which was declared of public utility two years ago. The site has been entrusted to the Faso Agropole company for exploitation. Minister Sombié was pleased with the overall state of the crops and investments made to support agricultural production. He noted significant investments in cowpea and soybean production, both for basic and certified seeds, aimed at strengthening production capacities and improving quality seed availability for farmers.

Despite these encouraging results, Minister Sombié highlighted the need to address challenges, particularly improving soil fertility through suitable amendments and developing efficient irrigation systems. He stressed that mobilizing water is crucial for reducing agriculture's dependence on climate variability. This approach aligns with the President's initiative to promote production under total water control, ensuring secure agricultural activities and increased yields.

Minister Sombié reassured his department's availability to support women engaged in agricultural activities on the site, encouraging them to continue producing. The "Yere Ta" farm serves as a model for promoting agropastoral and fisheries sectors, and the minister's visit demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance agricultural productivity and food security in Burkina Faso.
