The SNV, in collaboration with its partners, has provided equipment worth over 40 million FCFA to actors in Burkina Faso's mango sector. The equipment was handed over in Ouagadougou on September 24, 2026, under the "Green Mango for Better Livelihoods in Burkina Faso (GMBL)" project. This project aims to contribute to the development of a sustainable, inclusive, competitive, and resilient mango sector in Burkina Faso.

The GMBL project is implemented in partnership with the Directorate General of Plant Productions (DGPV), the National Agricultural Training School (ENAFA) of Matourkou, and the deconcentrated technical services of the ministry in charge of agriculture. The project is financed by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Danida Green Business Partnerships (DGBP) program and is led by the SNV, Rose Eclat, and Adelante consortium. The project started in July 2025 and will run for three years.

The equipment provided includes stainless steel pruning shears, telescopic poles, manual or backpack sprayers, harvest crates, and wheelbarrows. Additionally, soil preparation equipment such as weeding forks, rakes, and hoes have been provided. To improve product traceability and quality, beneficiaries will also receive follow-up notebooks and registers, an impression device for labeling, and a kit for analyzing residues and water and soil quality.

The project aims to improve the livelihoods of actors in the mango value chain, with a particular focus on young people and women. According to Honoré Zidouemba, representative of the SNV country director and project manager, the equipment donation aims to improve the livelihoods of small producers and professionalize over 1,200 young people and women already active in the sector.

The equipment will be used for production, orchard maintenance, harvesting, conservation, processing, certification, technical demonstration, and marketing. Zidouemba emphasized that the equipment must be used responsibly and transparently, and that SNV and its partners will monitor their use on the ground. The goal is to see the equipment being used to irrigate orchards, prune and harvest mangoes, and improve product quality.

Other stakeholders, including Antonio Touré, director general adjoint of Rose Eclat, and Bakary Sérémé, representative of the ministry in charge of agriculture, have expressed their support for the project. They emphasized the importance of investing in the actors and actrices of the mango sector and the need to focus on quality and innovation to increase competitiveness.

The beneficiaries have welcomed the equipment donation and have pledged to use it responsibly. Rebecca Diabaté, member of the "Mangues d'or" cooperative of Orodara, has expressed her gratitude to the partners and promised that the cooperative will work hard to become a job creator for young people. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the mango sector and the livelihoods of actors involved.
