FasoCraft, an initiative driven by young Burkinabè individuals living in the country and abroad, was officially presented at a press conference in Ouagadougou on October 29, 2026. The platform seeks to enhance the visibility of local artisans and their creations, providing them with a digital space to showcase and sell their products. By doing so, FasoCraft aims to contribute to the growth of the artisanal sector in Burkina Faso and increase its international recognition.
The FasoCraft platform, accessible at www.fasocraft.com, offers a range of services, including communication, presentation of creations, research of partnerships, and digital tools to facilitate the discovery of artisanal products and commercial opportunities. Currently, the platform is working with around twenty artisan partners, both men and women, based in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso. So far, over a hundred products have been cataloged and are available on the site.
The selection of Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso as initial locations for FasoCraft is strategic, given their recognition as creative cities by UNESCO in the field of handicrafts and popular arts. According to Ousmane Nombo, one of the platform's promoters, this focus will help highlight the creative potential of these cities and promote Burkinabè craftsmanship globally.
To ensure the success of FasoCraft, the initiative has partnered with several complementary organizations. Push Consult is handling the technical development of the platform, while DHL and La Poste du Burkina Faso are collaborating on logistics. For payment processing, FasoCraft is working with LigdiCash, a payment solutions aggregator. These partnerships aim to establish the necessary tools for presenting and commercializing artisanal products.
During the press conference, the organizations behind FasoCraft called on local artisans to join the platform and make their products available to a broader audience. Plans are also underway to organize a prospecting mission to invite more artisans to integrate FasoCraft. By expanding its network of artisan partners, the platform hopes to increase its offerings and promote Burkinabè craftsmanship nationwide and internationally.
The launch of FasoCraft reflects the growing importance of digital platforms in promoting local economic development and artisanal sectors in Africa. By providing a digital space for artisans to showcase and sell their products, FasoCraft is expected to contribute to the growth of Burkina Faso's artisanal sector and enhance its international visibility.
As FasoCraft continues to develop and expand its services, it is likely to have a positive impact on the lives of local artisans and the broader Burkinabè economy. With its focus on promoting artisanal products and supporting local economic development, FasoCraft is an initiative that could serve as a model for similar projects in other African countries.
