The Boardroom Governance Summit (BGS) Africa 2026 has been rescheduled from its original date of October 7 to Thursday, November 12, 2026. The event will take place at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana. According to the organisers, the decision to change the date was made after consultations with principal partners, speakers, and guests of honour. This change allows for better preparation and more inclusive participation.

The summit's theme for this year is “Board Committees: From Oversight to Impact.” The organisers reported a significant increase in interest in the summit, with a substantial portion of the interest coming from outside Ghana. As a result, the additional time will enable chairpersons, directors, and governance leaders from across Africa to make necessary travel and visa arrangements to attend the event.

Ing. Prof. Douglas K. Boateng, the Founder and Convenor of BGS Africa, noted that the growing international interest had transformed the summit from a Ghanaian event into a continental gathering. He stated that what began as a Ghanaian gathering now belongs to the whole continent, with the rest of Africa coming to Ghana. The organisers want to ensure a proper reception for their fellow Africans.

The rescheduling of the summit has not resulted in any changes to the delegate benefits. These benefits include summit access, breakfast and lunch, a complimentary copy of Practical Perspectives on the Committees of the Board, as well as CPD recognition for members of partner institutions. Sponsorship and partnership benefits will also remain in place.

All registrations and tickets already issued remain valid, and delegates who are unable to attend the summit on the new date will be entitled to a refund. The organisers have stressed that the summit has not been cancelled and will go ahead on November 12. Registration for the event remains open at boardroomgovsummit.com/registration.

The increased interest in the summit reflects its growing importance in the African business and governance landscape. The event aims to bring together leaders and experts to discuss the role of board committees in effective governance. The summit's convenor, Ing. Prof. Douglas K. Boateng, emphasised the need for better preparation and inclusivity.

The Boardroom Governance Summit Africa 2026 is expected to be a significant event in the continent's governance calendar. With its new date, the summit is poised to attract a diverse range of participants from across Africa and beyond. The event's organisers are confident that the additional time will result in a better-prepared and more impactful summit.
