The West African Development Bank (Boad) has approved a 17.5 billion FCFA loan for Yattassaye & Company Energy Invest to acquire energy infrastructure in Benin. This decision was made during the 152nd ordinary session of the Boad's Board of Directors, held on September 24, 2026, in Lomé, Togo. The loan will be used to acquire a portfolio of assets and energy infrastructure located in Benin.

The Boad's Board of Directors examined and validated several financing proposals to support infrastructure projects and economic development in West African Economic and Monetary Union (Uemoa) member states. The approved loan is part of the bank's efforts to support private sector actors in strategic sectors. The financing will enable Yattassaye & Company Energy Invest to take over the management of the targeted installations.

The loan will cover the acquisition of specialized equipment for the storage, transportation, and distribution of energy products in Benin. By integrating these industrial units into its portfolio, Yattassaye & Company Energy Invest will consolidate its logistics network and expand its activities in the national market. This operation will also contribute to the structuring of the company's asset portfolio in the sub-region.

The Boad's decision aligns with its policy of supporting private sector actors and strengthening regional energy security. By providing long-term resources, the bank supports the perpetuation of industrial tools by regional investors. For Benin, the maintenance of operations on these infrastructures will ensure a regular energy supply for economic activities and household needs.

The final disbursement of the loan is subject to compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental and social norms established by the bank. The decision taken during the September 24, 2026 meeting will lead to the preparation of contractual documents. The formal signature of the conventions between Boad and Yattassaye & Company Energy Invest will precede the progressive disbursement of financial resources and the official transfer of assets.

The Boad's financing will enable Yattassaye & Company Energy Invest to play a significant role in Benin's energy sector. The company's expansion will contribute to the country's economic growth and development. The Boad's support for the private sector is expected to have a positive impact on the regional economy.

The loan approved by the Boad is a significant step towards strengthening Benin's energy infrastructure. The country's energy sector is expected to benefit from the acquisition of new equipment and the expansion of Yattassaye & Company Energy Invest's activities. The Boad's financing will also contribute to the achievement of the Uemoa's objectives for economic development and regional integration.
