Rt Rev Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire has been installed and consecrated as the fifth Bishop of Kabale Diocese in Uganda. The ceremony took place at St Ignatius University-Kabale and was attended by the faithful, clergy, government officials, and other guests. Bishop Callist Rubaramira, who presided over the consecration, officially retired as the Bishop of Kabale after more than two decades leading the diocese.

Bishop Rubaramira handed the ring, mitre, and crozier, the symbols of the episcopal office, to Bishop Gubazire. In his homily, Rubaramira urged the new bishop to see his appointment as a call to service, not an honour. He emphasised the importance of giving special attention to the poor, the weak, and strangers. This message was part of the homily during the Mass where Gubazire made commitments to proclaim the Gospel and serve as a father to the faithful.

As part of his commitment during Mass, Gubazire pledged to remain united with the successor of St Peter. Bishop Rubaramira called on the Christian community, clergy, and religious in Kabale to cooperate with the new Bishop. The installation ceremony was attended by Finance Minister Henry Musasizi, who represented President Museveni as the guest of honour. The event marked a significant milestone for the Kabale Diocese.

The Kabale Diocese is celebrating 60 years since its founding in 1966. Currently, the diocese has 989,100 Catholics, 43 parishes, 162 priests, 276 sisters, 916 catechists, and 86 major seminarians. Bishop Gubazire's installation comes at a time of growth and development for the diocese. The diocese looks forward to his leadership and guidance.
