Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has inaugurated the Tinubu/Alia 2027 Campaign Council, marking the beginning of preparations for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Alia in the 2027 general elections. The council, with Hon Citizen Richard Asema as Director-General, was launched at IBB Square on Thursday. This move demonstrates the All Progressives Congress' (APC) commitment to securing victory in the forthcoming elections.
During the inauguration, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of unity, commitment, and dedication among council members. He described their appointments as a reflection of the confidence reposed in them by the party leadership and the people of Benue State. The governor also urged party members to put aside personal grievances, embrace reconciliation, and work collectively towards securing victory for the APC.
Governor Alia highlighted his administration's achievements in various sectors, including security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and industrialization. He attributed these successes to the cooperation and support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government. The governor particularly acknowledged federal interventions that had strengthened security operations and supported efforts to restore peace to previously troubled communities in the state.
Some of the governor's notable achievements include the recruitment of 9,700 primary school teachers, improvements in public school infrastructure, regular payment of salaries and pensions, road construction, and the establishment of agricultural processing facilities. These developments have contributed significantly to the state's growth and progress. The governor's administration has also focused on reviving and completing previously abandoned projects.
Infrastructure development has been a key focus area for Governor Alia's administration. He disclosed that efforts to connect all 23 local government areas of the state through road networks are nearing completion, with approximately 25 per cent of the work remaining. The governor also cited the revival and completion of projects such as Taraku Mills, the International Conference Centre at IBB Square, and the Cancer Centre at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital.
If re-elected, Governor Alia promised to concentrate on consolidating existing achievements rather than starting new projects from scratch. His administration remains committed to implementing its development blueprint and will focus on sustaining ongoing initiatives, strengthening completed projects, and ensuring that public investments deliver lasting benefits. The governor's vision for the state's future is centered around continuity and progress.
The inauguration of the Tinubu/Alia 2027 Campaign Council marks a significant milestone in the APC's preparations for the forthcoming elections. With Governor Alia's leadership and the support of President Tinubu, the party is poised to secure victory and continue its development agenda for Benue State.
