The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denounced comments made by its former State Chairman, Austin Agada, against Governor Hyacinth Alia and two prominent party members. The party described Agada's remarks as irresponsible, disparaging, and politically divisive. Agada's comments were made during a TVC News interview.
Agada referred to Governor Alia as an "ingrate" and described Hon. Prince Moses Ternenge, the APC leader, and Hon. Engr. Livinus Tsar, an APC point-man, as "illiterates." The party's Publicity Secretary, Benedict Yaweh, released a statement on Wednesday condemning Agada's remarks. The APC considers the comments against Ternenge and Tsar particularly unacceptable.
The APC emphasized that Ternenge and Tsar's professional backgrounds and humble beginnings do not diminish their character, capacity, or contributions to the party and society. Both are committed APC stakeholders who have distinguished themselves through grassroots mobilisation and service to the Party. The party rejected Agada's allegation that Governor Alia is controlled by individuals around him.
The APC urged Agada to present facts and engage constructively if he has genuine concerns about the administration, rather than resorting to personal attacks and derogatory remarks. The party also addressed Agada's claim that he sold his Abuja property to support Governor Alia's 2023 campaign and was not compensated, stating that any legitimate financial or contractual claim should be pursued through the appropriate channels.
Agada stated that Governor Alia has given him no reason to campaign for him in 2027, which the party described as his personal political position. The APC said Governor Alia and the party leadership in Benue State are focused on strengthening the party, consolidating its structures, and mobilising support across the state for the 2027 general elections.
The APC called on all aggrieved members and stakeholders to put aside personal grievances and work for the collective interest of the party. The party remains open to dialogue and reconciliation, urging members to prioritize the unity and future of the APC. The task ahead is greater than any personal grievance, and the party needs every member and stakeholder to build a stronger APC.
The APC reaffirmed its commitment to internal reconciliation, responsible political engagement, and strengthening its structures across Benue State. The party aims to secure victory for Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all APC candidates in 2027.
