The town hall of Covè, Benin, hosted the official launch of "Covè en 10 regards" on September 18, 2026. The "Covè en 10 regards" book sheds light on the historical, cultural, tourist, and economic riches of the Agonlin region. According to Covè's mayor, Auguste Aïhunhin, the book is a tool to promote the commune's heritage, enhance its attractiveness, and utilize its assets for sustainable development. The mayor emphasized that a society is built around its history, culture, and legacy.
The book presents ten perspectives that reveal the multiple facets of Covè. It highlights the traditional organization of society through six orders that structure community life. Several chapters are dedicated to Guèlèdè masks, the sacred Sato tam-tam, and the commune's environmental wealth. Covè is situated in the Ouémé and Zou watersheds and features several sacred forests, including the famous Zou forest.
The book also emphasizes Covè's economic potential as a significant agricultural and agro-food basin. Agriculture is the primary activity of the local population, with emblematic products like Gonlinmi oil and Azinganvi contributing to the local economy. These products demonstrate a recognized know-how and participate in the dynamism of the local economy.
