The fifth edition of the Benghazi International Book Fair is underway, featuring cultural evenings and programs under the theme "Generations Meet and Visions Renew." The Cultural Committee oversees the events, which include writers, poets, and intellectuals. The program covers poetry, literature, and creative writing, with a focus on showcasing young talents. This initiative provides a platform for young writers to share their experiences and discuss the development of writing in Libya.

A seminar on youth writing in Libyan novels was held in the main hall, exploring the contributions of young authors to the narrative landscape. Moderated by writer Awatif Al-Shehibi, the session was attended by literary enthusiasts. Young writer Mawadda Amqada' Al-Tarhouni from Tobruk participated at the invitation of Cultural Committee Chairwoman Rehab Shneib. The seminar discussed early writing experiences, story-starting methods, and influential authors.

Writer Qusai Balamaskin, born in 1996 in Brak Al-Shati, highlighted his main works, including the novel "Aqab," published by Dar Al-Nahda Al-Arabiya in Lebanon. The novel received a grant from the Libyan Novel Workshop under the supervision of the Arete Foundation for Culture and Arts. Balamaskin's work is an example of the literary output of young Libyan writers.

The seminar examined the structure of the Libyan novel and the influence of international, Arab, and local literary schools. Participants discussed factors shaping their styles and experiences, as well as the critical role of literary critique in developing their work. The session covered topics such as realism, short realism, magical realism, and trends in novel writing.

The cultural evenings aim to introduce new literary experiences, open dialogue between generations, and highlight young writers' contributions to Libyan literature. The events also address the challenges facing creative writers in Libya. The program provides a platform for writers and intellectuals to share their insights and experiences.

The accompanying cultural events at the fair will continue until November 12. The program includes poetry evenings, panel discussions, and intellectual seminars with writers and intellectuals from across Libya. These events are expected to foster a deeper understanding of Libyan literature and provide opportunities for young writers to engage with their peers and established authors.
