The BBC and BBC Studios have introduced Africa Enterprise, a new business program that examines companies, entrepreneurs, and investment opportunities shaping Africa's economy. Launched on October 5, 2026, the Absa-sponsored program debuted on the BBC News channel, with accompanying coverage on BBC.com and social media. The series is presented by business journalist Nancy Kacungira and features interviews with leading African chief executives.

The program's opening edition features an exclusive interview with Nigeria's Aliko Dangote, who discusses his plans for Africa and the continent's prospects for greater economic independence. Africa Enterprise will explore various subjects, including entrepreneurship, agriculture, mining, infrastructure, creative industries, and the changing nature of work. Kacungira stated that the series would explore connections between these sectors, addressing questions relevant to audiences while sharing African business experiences internationally.

Through interviews and analysis, Africa Enterprise aims to help business leaders and investors understand emerging opportunities and the role of enterprises operating across African markets in supporting economic growth. The program will comprise three four-minute episodes each week and a 12-minute program at the end of every month. Additional material will appear on BBC.com/Business and BBC social platforms, with episodes available on the BBC Global YouTube page and clips shared through its LinkedIn channel.

Isla Macleod, BBC Studios' Vice President Commercial for Africa and Europe, highlighted the partnership with Absa, which aims to showcase the ambition and innovation of businesses across the continent. The collaboration will bring greater visibility to individuals, ideas, and companies contributing to Africa's development. Absa Group's Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer, Sydney Mbhele, emphasized the bank's commitment to giving African business leaders a stronger international platform.

Mbhele noted that Africa's diversity and entrepreneurial ambition deserved greater recognition, adding that African perspectives were essential to understanding its economic progress. The sponsorship reflects Absa's commitment to promoting African business leaders and providing a platform for their stories to be told. Africa Enterprise aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the continent's economic landscape and opportunities for growth.

Alongside the program, Absa plans to introduce the second season of Stories of Africa, a branded campaign produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions. The campaign will focus on creativity, community, and entrepreneurship, examining how people working in culture and business are opening opportunities for Africa's next generation. This initiative complements Africa Enterprise's goal of showcasing African business experiences and opportunities.

The launch of Africa Enterprise and the partnership with Absa demonstrate a significant effort to promote African business opportunities and provide a platform for African entrepreneurs and leaders to share their stories. By highlighting the continent's ambition and innovation, the program aims to contribute to a greater understanding of Africa's economic progress and opportunities for growth.
