The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully foiled an alleged abduction and rescued a 16-year-old boy, while arresting a 60-year-old suspect in Shira Local Government Area of the state. On September 28, 2026, the Yana Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report from a 50-year-old father, whose son, Usman Dauda, had been abducted from Misau town to Bangala village by Abdullahi Abubakar, a 60-year-old man from the same village.
According to the police report, the suspect allegedly intended to move the boy to Kano for yet-to-be-ascertained reasons. The police command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, stated that detectives swiftly mobilized to the scene, rescued the victim unhurt, and arrested the suspect. The victim was subsequently taken to the General Hospital, Yana, for medical examination.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect confessed to unlawfully confining the victim in his room for a day without proper feeding. The police command has expressed concern over the incident and has assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
In a separate operation on the same date, operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division arrested five suspects at Doya Quarters, Bauchi, for alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass, housebreaking, mischief, and theft. The suspects had allegedly invaded an uncompleted building at Doya Quarters and carted away windows and glasses before the arrival of the owner.
The operatives, acting on credible intelligence, promptly swooped on the area and apprehended all five suspects, with the stolen items recovered as exhibits. The police spokesperson said that the suspects had been using a black bag to conceal the suspected stolen items, which were later confirmed to be stolen during preliminary investigation.
The owners of the stolen items traced them to the Division with proofs of ownership for identification and collection. The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that all the cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the Police.
