In a recent attack, bandits stormed Tsafe town, the headquarters of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nigeria, and abducted five residents, including women. According to another resident, Tsafe town had been under a curfew starting from 10pm following a similar incident the previous week. The resident noted that the areas attacked by the bandits, Low-cost and Nomau, lacked local vigilantes and security checkpoints, unlike other parts of Tsafe town. The Chairman of Tsafe Local Government Area, Hon. Garba Shehu Fanchas, confirmed the attack and the abduction of five people.
Fanchas commended the efforts of security agencies and local vigilantes in confronting the bandits, stating that they showed sacrifice. He explained that before the attack, security personnel and local vigilantes had blocked all entrances into Tsafe town, but the bandits managed to sneak in through an unexpected route and reach the heart of the town. The chairman confirmed that no life was lost in the attack.
The bandits were engaged by the army and the state security outfit, Askarawa, forcing them to flee. Fanchas stated that it was yet to be confirmed if there were any casualties among the bandits. The chairman called for the deployment of more security personnel to ensure the safety of Tsafe town and surrounding communities.
